Speaking of which... There's an artistic headboard and footboard set for a bed that seems to have been someone's carefully labored-over art project sitting behind the dumpster behind the art building on campus. Looks like it's never been used. I don't understand why anyone would toss it out. Was it perhaps a student artist who was under financial duress and couldn't afford to transport it home after graduating?

One of the fun things about scavenging is imagining the history behind each item. I hope that headboard set finds its way to someone who will love it.

Sadly, I'm pretty sure that it got hauled away by the UCD garbage disposal people two weeks ago. (Because several large items that were set behind the dumpster were suddenly gone from one week to the next.)

It's still out there for the taking behind the art building, as of 9 am today (Sept. 20, 2024). There are lots of students going through orientation today (maybe thousands, walking around and getting the campus tour).

I used to be a compulsive scavenger. I wouldn't mind doing it again. I just have to have people to give stuff to

Or take it to SPCA where it can find its way to people who need it? Or store it and have a rummage sale a couple times a year? Have fun!

This might be my new favorite…”I Don’t Need Your Free Stuff.” Hilarious.

This is truly recycling, and I love it. It also feels good when I put something out, and someone decides they can use it.

We have a house full of accumulations and no more space, but I love looking through these “September piles” and dream of the possibilities!
